Well, I was reunited with my laptop. That is, until it decided not to turn on this morning. Called HP and I have to send it back. Again. Great. I'm confused as to why they replaced the hard drive in the first place, as all I needed was a new display. The first guy I talked to said he thinks the people working on it missed some problem with the motherboard while the second guy I spoke with thought the hard drive needed to be reformatted...that is, until I told him that the repair people just put in a new one. Wasn't the purpose of me coming home this weekend to get my laptop and bring it back to Athens?

Screw this. Next time, I'm getting a Mac.

I'm sorry!!! I got you guys some prints from the Kyoto Handicraft Center, but I can't find them anywhere and I have a sneaking suspicion that they might still accidently be in Japan. On the plus side, they were not either of y'all's main gifts, but I still feel horrible about it. I will crush any scorpion that makes his way into my kitchen, but I have been known to send my poor mother after a wasp that was in another room.

3) I absolutely love storms as long as I'm in a building, but I will freak out if I'm driving or otherwise in a vehicle during a storm, particularly ones that produce hail, frequent cloud-to-ground lightning, and potential tornadoes. Yes, I am speaking from many different experiences. I think this stems from having seen lightning hit both the back tire on a car driving in front of me as well as a rubber welcome mat about 15 feet from me.

4) I am told that I have amazing hearing abilities. Move over, Clark Kent!

5) I look absolutely nothing like my parents, but I'm not adopted (at least, they swear I'm not...) But I do look eerily like one of my cousins.

6) I also seem to have an evil clone out there. My AP Bio teacher asked me where she knew me from the first day I met her and twice store clerks have said “back again already?” to me even though I had never or rarely been into the stores. In fact, yesterday I went to a sports store (for the second time ever!) to purchase something and the manager accused me of being “the girl who comes in and switches [his] price labels.”

7) I have been asked if I were an albino. I wish I had replied in the affirmative...

8) I am surprisingly good at some sports: equestrian, soccer, basketball (prior to junior high where height started to be important), street hockey, volleyball, swimming, and tennis. At one point in my life, I even ran cross-country. That I sucked at =(

9) I have low self-confidence and as a result, it takes a while for me to open up to people I don’t know very well.

10) I try to come off as a realist, but in truth I’m an idealist who knows very little of the workings of the real world.

Bonus!
Warning, angst ahead. I recommend that you skip it, as this post serves mainly for me to unload.

So my cousin is officially a sociopath.

Background for those who haven't heard me talk about him before: He's seven months younger than me, very smart, and extremely unmotivated. He was offered many scholarships to college to play soccer, but lost the majority of them when he failed senior year and had to go to summer school in order to graduate from high school. Nevertheless, he still managed to retain one of them to a local community college and so he went the next fall -- and failed out within a semester. So his parents decided it was time for tough love and said they wouldn't pay for stuff and if he wanted things he'd have to get a job. Meanwhile, his sister spent the last year studying abroad in England. For some reason, Michael feels entitled to the same privileges.

Anyways, long story short, he has always been a bit antisocial. Now he's started stealing from everyone under the sun, including his employers. They recently came to the door and told my aunt that he stole a blackberry from them and was using it. Of course, Michael denied it, but my aunt found the cover to it in his room and his boss has the charges that Michael managed to pile up. My uncle even started sleeping with his wallet under his mattress, but my cousin has since found that. My cousin, Maryanne, returned from England two days ago, and her parents are worrying about her safety as they think Michael is harboring a lot of resentment towards her as well as them. Aunt Reen has been talking with a counselor about it, who told her that she should just exercise tough love and send him to jail now before she and Uncle Joe end up a headline, because the counselor feels Michael is building up to it. I think she's going to get the police involved today.

I realize that I probably shouldn't post stuff like this on lj, but I just needed to get it off my chest so I can alleviate a bit of the worry and concern that's been tainting the atmosphere here.

More bad news: I know I said that we should all get together sometime in May, but it looks like I'm not going to have enough time before I leave for Japan. I still have to go back to Athens on Friday, attend mom's graduation on Saturday, get crap for Japan, etc. Also, people are going to be repairing our deck all next week. Maybe we can try for a later date, preferably when Hayley's in town?

Question for the UGA crowd: I was thinking we should go out or something on Monday night to celebrate the last day of school and whatnot. We haven't been to Golden Dragon in a while, so maybe there? Anyone in?

Also, a shoutout to the newest and youngest member of the Yunicorns, Doc!

ISL's Street Fest was pretty cool, I gotta admit. It reminded me a lot of Multicultural Fair Day back in High School (incidently my favorite day of the school year, and probably the only school day I actually looked forward to). Anywho, the kanji tattoos were amazing! Especially Rejon's "Carbohydrate Samurai". Too bad I didn't get Shinya to write OASIS ninja on my other arm =)

Funny story. Got carded today. At Border's. Trying to buy a manga. And not one of the hentai/ecchi variety either. Red River vol. 17 (since LC got me hooked on that series). The lady asked if I had a parent with me or some form of identification on me. I sighed, handed her my driver's license, and when she did the math, she laughed and just handed it back. Needless to say, it was a legit purchase ^_^

genki_blu: heya. it's erin. from the dorm down the street. thought you'd enjoy this.

Office is Closed. Due to Zombies.

edit (warning, slight angst for no reason): God, I've become the Amber of Soule. One of my suitemates had her b-day today and so I heard her friends come over and they sang 'Happy Birthday' and what not and had a small party. So about an hour after, I put down <strike>the most boring book in the world</strike> Narrow Road to the Deep North to go to the restroom. I notice that all the other suitemates are at this "party" and, while I am using said bathroom, I hear them whisper "Oh, is Erin here?" "Yes." I am now back in my room, being emo and contemplating "slitting my wrists and going to work at Wal-Mart."

edit take 2: Okay, after watching Anime Academy Heroes followed by Must Be Emo, I'm in a much better mood.
Went Karaoke-ing at Doremi last night with Rejon, Lee, Junichi, Shinya, Makoto, Megumi, Stephanie, and Michael. It was great! Except for the part where Shinya got into the car accident =( Oh, and the part where Lee and I got a score of 00 for Sakamoto Maaya's "Yubiwa". El-oh-el. The Korean restaurant we ate at was okay, but seriously overpriced! But afterwards we went to Suno for an amazing shaved ice/suno creation, so it was all good. Suno=snow! Puns galore!
