Well, I was reunited with my laptop. That is, until it decided not to turn on this morning. Called HP and I have to send it back. Again. Great. I'm confused as to why they replaced the hard drive in the first place, as all I needed was a new display. The first guy I talked to said he thinks the people working on it missed some problem with the motherboard while the second guy I spoke with thought the hard drive needed to be reformatted...that is, until I told him that the repair people just put in a new one. Wasn't the purpose of me coming home this weekend to get my laptop and bring it back to Athens?
Screw this. Next time, I'm getting a Mac.

I have officially been reunited with my laptop. The good news is that it is fixed, however, in addition to replacing the screen, Hewlett Packard felt the need to replace the hard drive as well.

While I was packing stuff to take back with me to Athens, I discovered something that saddened me. Apparently, I lost one of Hannah's and Rejon's souvenirs from Kyoto. I'm sorry!!! I got you guys some prints from the Kyoto Handicraft Center, but I can't find them anywhere and I have a sneaking suspicion that they might still accidently be in Japan. On the plus side, they were not either of y'all's main gifts, but I still feel horrible about it. Gomen nasai!!!
I also have a question for Lee: Oguri Shun or MatsuJun?

Well, the book I helped edit is finally out. Better yet, mom got the okay to drive again!
Now I have to start packing again, grumble grumble. That and I have to send my laptop in to be fixed, so I probably won't have it back in time for school to start. Oh well.

Saw Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix last night with Jules and Hales. It was, imho, more enjoyable than the book. Then again, considering every other page in the book was in all caps, most anything is better than the book version of angsty Harry.

Hey guys! Yup, I'm still alive. Now that I'm back from Japan, I've been super busy helping my mom out, taking care of her, cleaning the house, taking her to PT, etc. Anyways, just wanted to post that I'm still here!
I also thought I would post some of the strange things that were popular on television in Japan when I was there. Thought you might find them... interesting and perhaps amusing. Enjoy!

While I'm not really a big fan of the movies, I thought some of you on my friends' list would be interested to know that Daniel Radcliffe just arrived in Tokyo today for the world premier of the fifth Harry Potter movie. P.S. I arrived in Tokyo today, too.

10 Weird Things About Me
1) Semi-clairvoyant. It’s complicated.
2) I'm pretty cool with bugs, lizards and snakes, but I HATE wasps! I will crush any scorpion that makes his way into my kitchen, but I have been known to send my poor mother after a wasp that was in another room.
3) I absolutely love storms as long as I'm in a building, but I will freak out if I'm driving or otherwise in a vehicle during a storm, particularly ones that produce hail, frequent cloud-to-ground lightning, and potential tornadoes. Yes, I am speaking from many different experiences. I think this stems from having seen lightning hit both the back tire on a car driving in front of me as well as a rubber welcome mat about 15 feet from me.
4) I am told that I have amazing hearing abilities. Move over, Clark Kent!
5) I look absolutely nothing like my parents, but I'm not adopted (at least, they swear I'm not...) But I do look eerily like one of my cousins.
6) I also seem to have an evil clone out there. My AP Bio teacher asked me where she knew me from the first day I met her and twice store clerks have said “back again already?” to me even though I had never or rarely been into the stores. In fact, yesterday I went to a sports store (for the second time ever!) to purchase something and the manager accused me of being “the girl who comes in and switches [his] price labels.”
7) I have been asked if I were an albino. I wish I had replied in the affirmative...
8) I am surprisingly good at some sports: equestrian, soccer, basketball (prior to junior high where height started to be important), street hockey, volleyball, swimming, and tennis. At one point in my life, I even ran cross-country. That I sucked at =(
9) I have low self-confidence and as a result, it takes a while for me to open up to people I don’t know very well.
10) I try to come off as a realist, but in truth I’m an idealist who knows very little of the workings of the real world.
Bonus! I get very “into” ideas and allow myself to get carried away easily. I also have the annoying habit of starting more projects than I manage to complete.

Okay, so I made a new blog just for my study abroad experience so that I don't overload people's friends' lists with pictures and in-depth entries. I will still post non-Japan related things here but I probably won't update this lj much in the coming month. If anyone is interested in my trip, however, they can visit 外人の世界.

My mom just laid into me for not "going above and beyond to help out." Apparently it's not enough that I do what is asked of me, but I'm supposed to do more, like she and her sister used to do when they were younger. I guess offering to postpone studying abroad and then actually giving up a potentially lucrative job for the second half of the summer in order to take care of her post-surgery doesn't count for much.

Haha, my Japanese language input bar is working...for now. Anyways, I'm currently obsessing over Masi Oka, the most adorable man alive! As for Heroes, the season finale was good, if not a bit anticlimactic. But "Volume 2" starts out nicely, imho.
OMG, I am so stoked about going to Kyoto. It seems very surreal though. Am I really going? ほんとうに?
Seriously guys, if you want specific souvenirs, ask now. Otherwise you'll be stuck with whatever I find at the airport the amazing items I personally select to match your personality and tastes.

More bad news: I know I said that we should all get together sometime in May, but it looks like I'm not going to have enough time before I leave for Japan. I still have to go back to Athens on Friday, attend mom's graduation on Saturday, get crap for Japan, etc. Also, people are going to be repairing our deck all next week. Maybe we can try for a later date, preferably when Hayley's in town?

Rejon. OMG, Rejon. I have two words for you: Proposal Daisakusen. You have to watch it. Seriously. We have to watch it tomorrow after we finish the first ep. of Bambino.
